Yumm, Brain Food!

With my Indiana Master Naturalist final exam scheduled for tomorrow evening, my night will be dedicated to studying, studying, and more studying.

But first, an awesome dinner of brain food- baked Alaskan salmon and home-grown asparagus (thank you Olga!).

I can’t wait until our recently planted asparagus is mature enough to harvest.  If it’s half as tasty as Olga’s, I’ll be very happy, indeed!

I have a strange feeling that our asparagus patch will soon be doubling in size, just as soon as I can get back to Menards.

This is what I got to enjoy when I let the dogs out at 0800 this morning.

What an awesome autumn morning! This is camping weather, if there ever was…

This was our first frost of the season.

The tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries were safely sleeping in the garage on this cold, frosty night.

Garden Update-10July2010

Posted by Steve | Posted in Everything Else, Gardening | Posted on 14-07-2010

Gardening and Landscaping are two of my favorite outdoors activities.

I love gardening because I get to enjoy time outdoors and watch my efforts unfold into a bounty of tasty organic food.

This season I’ve decided to grow an ever-expanding container garden.  I am constantly adding new containers and plan to continue doing so as long as the weather permits.

The embedded YouTube video player provides a link to a video update of my container garden.

I’m planning to post updates at regular intervals.  These updates will contain new additions to the garden, some of my lessons’ learned, and the successes and failures of the garden, in general, as it progresses through the weeks and months to come.

My previous blog posts about the garden can be found on my old blog  http://spisblog.wordpress.com .

Suggestions, questions or thoughts?  Please post a comment or shoot me an email and let me know what you think…

Enough said, on with the video….

Introduction to the ETO Project

Cedarville Reservoir

Cedarville Reservoir- Leo, IN.

Enjoytimeoutdoors.com is dedicated to just that, enjoying time outdoors.

In this modern era when too many people, young and old alike, are living a self-induced fast paced task driven inside life, getting outside and enjoying the day has become nothing more than a wish, a dream, a long fantasized but seemingly unreachable destination.  Their outdoor time is either tightly allotted to a sliver of their life’s jam-packed calendar, or is shoehorned into scarce ‘vacation’ time.

We all hear, or have used, the excuses  ”when I retire…, I’ve got too much to do…, I don’t have time,  I can’t affort to…, If I wasn’t so busy…, I’ve never learned to… (enter your own excuse here)”.

These excuses are all just that, excuses.

The joy and value of enjoying time outdoors doesn’t have to take a lot of money, skill, or time.  It only requires as much (or little) as you are willing to dedicate to your undertaking.

One of primary objectives of the ETO project is to highlight some seemingly random outdoor activities that we undertake, experience, or research with the multi-facetted goal of 1.)  journalling the interests and experiences, 2.) providing some lessons learned, and resources about the activities, and most importantly 3.) hopefully providing a spark of interest that helps enlighten and motivates at least one person to get out and give a try to something new.

If we reach at least one person we have succeeded in our mission!

Please be sure to stop back, bookmark us, or add us to your rss feed.  We’ve got plenty of articles and posts in the wings.

Well, the sun is rising on this beautiful day, my cup of morning coffee is nearly empty, and the Sunday morning mountain bike ride is calling my name.  It’s time for me to go Enjoy Time Outdoors

Enjoy your day!

Steve.
