Velo MTB Handlebar Grips

I purchased these handlebar grips, last summer, for my Specialized Rockhopper after I started doing a lot of road riding. Being a rather typical middle-aged American man with a big belly and weak abs, I was leaning a lot on my handlebars which resulted in numb hands during my longer rides. The immediate solution for me was to convert my grips to something more ergonomic, gel-padded, and capable of more hand positions.

After considerable research, I discovered the Velo Handlebar Grips on Amazon for extremely reasonable price ($15US as of the time of this writing). I figured I would give them a try and if I didn’t like them I would either return them or put them in the ‘pile of old bike stuff’, where they would never seen or heard from again. For $15 it’s hard to go wrong or at least not give them a try! (yes- I paid for these, and everything else I’ve ever gotten on Amazon, with my own money- this is not a promo- I’m just a happy customer sharing the joy of a good product/value).

The end result was pleasantly surprising- these grips are a very good quality construction, comfortable ergo fit in the hand, comfortable shape and material, and an overall great product for a great price.

I was recently contacted by Amazon to help answer some questions that a fellow cyclist had posted as a question. His question was in regards to being able to use a 3rd eye handlebar end mirror with these grips. I responded to the question, answering his question- which was a yes, based on the ones I received in the last year. I’ve added a few pictures to show what mine look like. These are a little different than what’s on the listing at Amazon. There were also a few questions about the gel grip- and, yes, mine have a very comfortable and grippy gel section.

I’m planning to purchase another pair (again, using my own money) for my resurrected 1992 Giant Iguana, my first true mtb love- more on that in a future post.

If you are interested in learning more about these grips, which I give two-thumbs up, you can find them at Amazon using this link- https://amzn.to/2JtNB5U .
